Dental Opinions, Short Term Dental Insurance
Question: I know I need a dental check up but I do not have dental insurance currently. I do not want to pay to have a dental check up and basic cleaning and with insurance I can get the free. Yet I do not see a point in keeping the insurance plan after I have my teeth checked and clean.
Answer: You will just have to read the terms and conditions of the plan you are looking at. You may buy either a Discount plan or an HMO insurance plan that provides monthly payment option. Normally you can cancel their plans with a 30 written request to the carrier. However again read the plan terms and conditions to confirm this.
Yet me say however, these types are plan normally run around $8.00 to $19.00 a month for an individual. At that low of a monthly cost I would highly suggest keeping the dental insurance even if you do not have current larger dental needs it will be there for you to maintain your dental health and provide you coverages for larger dental care needs if they happen in the future.
