Metal braces (i.e., stainless steel) are generally the cheapest.

Ceramic or clear dental brace which are tooth color tend to be more expensive.

Lingual dental braces are the type of braces are on the inside of your teeth rather than the outside.

Invisalign dental braces are practically invisible and removable.

Each type of these braces mentioned have both advantages and disadvantages which you should discuss with an orthodontist

Do you have Insurance? One of the problems with adult braces is not so much that they cost more per say, but that it is harder to find insurance that has coverage for adult braces. So it is important when trying to off set your cost is to get insurance that includes adult braces. Not only that but that they cover the type of braces you want. If you can not find insurance, then most discount plans will give you a 20% discount off the cost of braces but you need to go to their providers.

Try shoping out your last consultation. Dental office prices will very from office to office. Look for offices that will give you a free consultation so that you are not having to spend money. Let them know that you are shopping them out. Times are hard for everyone. If you let them know you are shopping they may even reduce your cost to get your business. This will be harder if you live in an area that has few orthodontist, but it is still worth a try.
