Tooth implant, is 16 too young?
I have a son that is 16 years old and he knocked out a tooth by playing around. He is really upset about the lost of his tooth although I told him that what he gets for playing around. Now that some time has gone by I feel bad for him. So I was thinking implant but someone told me he can not have that now. Is that true?

Implants are not recommend for children under the age of sixteen. Since their jaw bones would still be growing. This is even more so on males, and implants should be put off until they are around twenty.

Talk it over with an cosmetic dentist they can advise you on right age for your son. See if you can find one that can give a free consult.

I also agree that 16 may be too young. Look into seeing if he can have a bridge. Not only would a bridge cost less, you would have a better chance that the bridge would be covered under a dental insurance plan. Many dental insurance plans do not have coverage for dental implants. So a bridge may be a good choice until he can have an implant.
