I want to be a dental assistant, but I do not have perfect teeth.
I am current going to a dental assisting school and I really enjoy it. My worry is that my teeth aren’t completely straight. This makes me self conscience because all the other students have perfect teeth. When we practice on each other in class, I get worried that they are looking at my not so straight teeth.
I will be getting my teeth fixed once I get good medical insurance, but right now I just can not afford to get them fixed. Am I over thinking this or should I have some concerns that people will be looking at my teeth and look down on me because it is the field I will be in.

Do now worry so much about your teeth not being perfectly straight. You are still going to school and that is not cheap. I say for now just focus on your class and doing your best. I am sure that people are not judging you over your teeth. It is not like you are saying you have rotten teeth. that might be a greater issue.
When you get your dental assisting job then maybe you will be able to get braces or whatever you will need to straighten your teeth. And who knows you may be able to get a discount depending on where you are working. That would be would the wait.

Keep your focus on your school and doing well. Don’t let not have perfect straight teeth side track you from the objective. No one cares about your slightly crooked teeth.
People do care that you do a good job. If you are still worried about it do not work at an orthodontic dentist office. Work for a general dentist since that is not so much about teeth being straight.
Also you may want to look into getting dental insurance or a dental plan that will help you with the cost of have dental work done. You do not need to have a job to get dental insurance. I have listed a link for your review.

In my opinion you are worrying over a minor issue. Will it matter to some people? Maybe, but I really do not think it will be an issue that will stop you from becoming a dental assistant. At any rate you still need to complete the class first. If you can show that you are a good asset to the dental office then your teeth will not be an issue.
Try and not worry about the small stuff right now and continue with what needs to be done.

I don’t have perfect teeth and I am currently taking dental assistant classes. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
