Can a dentist tell that I smoke
Can I hide my smoking from a dentist
I am going on 15 and on average I will smoke anywhere from 2-4 cigarettes a day. I have been smoking now for a little over a year. I have my first dental appointment since I started smoking coming up in a few days. I am worried that a dentist may be able to tell that I smoke and say something to my parents. Do you think if I get whiten strips they will work good enough in a short time to hide the fact that I smoke? If he does know that I smoke by looking at my teeth will he just go a tell my parents or will that stay beween us? What can I do to keep it from him?

As a parent myself, I would want to know if my child was stupid enough to start smoking. I would be hard press to believe that your parents do not know or have some thoughts that you do current smoke.
Smoking stinks. When you smoke it gets on your cloths and hair and skin. I know if someone has smoke even if they did it the day before. Your parents may not have say anything to you get because they may not 100% sure.
They just may think you are hanging out with smokers. So when the dentist checks your teeth I hope he does say something to your parents. Maybe they can get you to quit now before you continue to slowly kill yourself.

Does you parents smoke? I am wondering, because if they do smoke it maybe why you have been able to hid the fact from them for so long. Smokers normally do not pay attention to the smoker smell.
If they did smell any smoker smell from you they may have thought it was because of their own smoking. However, you may not get so lucky with your dentist.
Whether or not the dentist will say anything to your parents would be his/her call. It also may depend on what state or country you live in and what their laws or regulations are.
Whiten strips may help a little in removing some of the smoker stains. A course you would want to stop smoke until after your dental visit.
Sorry though I am not going to say good luck to you on this. There is just nothing good about smoking and if going to the dentist scares you enough to stop the I say good.

I think so. My dentist just looks at my teeth and says you did not floss every day did you.. I can tell you are flossing but you need to do it every day. I am like man, my teeth are really white and I do brush twice a day and floss like ever other. How can you tell. He just smiles and says it is easy for him to spot.
I hate it too, because my mom gets all up in my face about it. I do not even what to know what she do if she thought I was smoking (which a course I do not). I know there is like no way I could even try to hide smoking cigarettes from my dentist.
And yes, my dentist would so tell on me!! He still tells my mom that I am not flossing like I should. Good luck on trying to get out of your mess buddy.
