Braces and Headaches
Got braces now have headaches
I am 24 and fairly new to having braces. I went with the plain metal ones for cost fact reasons since I paying for them myself and the other types would just be too expensive for me. I had them in now for a little over a month. My teeth are find they are sore sometimes but for the most part braces do not bother me in that way. I have been getting headaches though ever since I got braces.
Is that normal? I have headaches in the morning when I wake up and sometimes after school. I started to get headaches the same time I got the braces so I am pretty sure that is the cause of them. You think I will continue to have the headaches until I am out of braces or what?

Since you are new to having the braces getting headaches from them is normal. Your teeth are being adjusted into a new position. Just the fact that your teeth are going though that stress can give you a headache. You may start to notice you get headaches after your braces are adjusted by the dentist.
Something like Tylenol should help you with controlling your headaches. They should stop once you get use to he braces a little longer.
With that being said if your headaches continue for long periods of time or does not go away by taking an over the counter pain killer such as Tylenol or Advile. Take the time to talk to your dentist about your headaches. Or go see a doctor. At that point your headaches may have nothing to do with your braces.

No I do not think you have to worry about having headaches until you are out of braces. You are just new to having them and with the dentist adjusting them like they do having a headache now and then is common. You should start adjusting to having braces soon enough and notice that you do not get your headaches as often.
However, I too agree with John that if your headaches do not go away over time or continue to get worse you may want to seeing a doctor about them.

It may be that your braces is the cause of your headaches, but I would not just assume that is the case. Yes your headaches may have stated around the same time as you getting your braces. However, try to find other reasons why you may be getting these headaches.
Example: You said you are going to school at 24 I am guessing collage. Are you finding your self studying harder or for a longer time frame. Are you getting enough sleep. Also now a days one uses the computer to do their work on. Looking at a monitor all day is not good for your eyes and can also cause you to have headaches.
If you think about all the possible factors, you will have more means in which to stop your headaches from happening.
