Bad Breath problems
How do you tell someone that they have bad breath
I have this friend that I have know for years. However within the last year her diet or something has changed and now she has bad breath. It really stinks like fish or something. I do not have to be close up to her to smell it either. I thought at first it was just me smelling it since we hang out all the time. Though just the other day I heard some of our co-workers joking about her bad breath.
I want to say something to her without hurting her feeling. She takes things really personal. I do not want her upset with me because I tell her that her breath stinks and that other people are starting to make fun of her. Any suggestions?

Have you ever heard of the song you have to be cruel to be kind? Well sometimes that is true. If you are really her friend, then take her aside and tell her.
Will this hurt her feeling? Yes, maybe. However, in the end if she listens to you she will not have to be hurt even more. How do you think she would feel if she was to hear the jokes that are going around about her at work.

I really understand were you are coming from. Many years back, I had the same problem with my co-worker/roommate. Only over a different body odor.
I heard people at work making fun of her as well as some of our friends joking about how she had an odor about her. I felt that I needed to tell her. How could I continue to let people make fun of her about her odor and still not say anything to her.
Okay yes she was big time upset with me and did not want to hear what I was saying. She even felt as if I too was making fun of her. It was hard since I lived with her and she did not talk to me for about a month.
Later when it sunk in. She asked me about products she could get to help her with her issues. She never smelled again and we are still friend after 18+ years.
