Do you really think that it is hard to fine a carrying dentist. Most dentist are not going to make their patients feel bad about themselves.
I suggest just calling around. Tell the person that answers what you have going on and you want a dentist that is understanding. That you are scared of going but know you need to have a lot of work done.
If you do that and let them know before you appointment they will be able to let the dentist know to be more caring to your needs.

Well I have a great dentist. He is very caring and would never make any of is patients feel bad about themselves. I have no clue as to were you live to say go to him.
However, I can not see too many dentist being rude and staying in business for too long. When you think about it, I am sure they have seen worse teeth then yours.
I would advise looking into health issue as to why you have bad teeth if you indeed take good care of them. Example would be that diabetics can have very bad teeth due to the diabetes. Just something to look into

Do not worry so much. If you come across a dentist that is rude to you about your teeth. Then just get up and walk out. Easy as that. Do not get your feeling hurt by anyone saying anything to you about your teeth. Even a dentist.
You need work done for your oral health as well as your over all health. Getting that work done is what is important.
Wishing you well soon
