Try to call the dentist again maybe he does not understand the pain your mom is currently in. To make her wait another two days seems very long when you have toothache pain.
If he will not take her in sooner maybe see a doctor to get some antibiotics. Have her wash her mouth out with warm salt water to try and control any infection she may have.

The same thing happen to my dad once. He just walked into the dental office and told him that he needed to be looked at now. They did not want to make a seen in front of other customers so they took him in.
Now that does take some guts and I am not saying it would work for your mom. But if she is in a lot of pain due to their root canal then they need to fix it not put her off.

Have her call the dentist and see if they can give her a pain killer prescription while she waits out her appointment. There is a chance that even though she had a root canal, that the pain she is now having is something new.
Washing her mouth out with warm salt water is a good idea and have her see if Advile or Tylenol helps her with the pain.
