Flossing is hurting my gums
I was told by the dentist that even though my teeth are very good and I have no cavities, I need to start flossing better. I have the start of gum disease. He said it is not bad but he can tell I am not flossing. So I started flossing like he told me two times a day. I am doing a good job keeping it up but it hurts my gums. How to I stop the pain from flossing. The dentist said it may hurt until I have done it for a while and my gums get use to it. But I do not want to wait so long as that. Help please

You need to floss so do not stop doing it your gums will get use to it over time. After you are done flossing rinse you mouth out with mouthwash if you can. That will help kill any bacteria.

Keep up the flossing even it if hurt a little it will not kill you. If you feel it is necessary then put the Orajel on your gums before flossing so that you are numbing them a little.

Your gums will get use to you flossing so do not just give up. A trick that I learned was to use a strong mouthwash such as Listerine before flossing. The mouthwash kind of numbs your gums a little then floss and rinse your mouth again
