Need to fix a chipped tooth
I am worried about the process of fixing a chipped tooth. I chipped my front tooth about two months ago. I chipped it playing base ball. It is only a small chip which was good considering how hard that ball smacked me in the face. I was going to just leave it alone but my friend told me I should have it fixed. That it is open to tooth decay if I do nothing. How does a dentist fix a chip tooth? Will they just grind it down? I do not want to have a shorter tooth. I think the chip would be better then that. Information please

The dentist may be able to do a slight bounding on the tooth. Depending on how big the chip is. Your friend is right that the chip does leave a week spot that is now open to tooth decay.
A dentist will be able to fix it so I would too suggest getting it taken care of.

Just go to the dentist and get it fixed. Your friend is right that now that your tooth is chip you may be open to getting a cavity. It is really no big deal about fixing it.
The dentist could suggest either bounding the tooth. Sanding down the sharp edge and putting a dental sealant on it. To even possibly getting a crown. Just talk over your choices and do what you feel would be best for you.
