How long do you normaly have to wear braces for
My friend is really upset about getting braces. Her parents are paying for her to get them. I think it is cool that she is going to get her teeth fixed up. They are a little gappy and crooked so they will only look really nice when they get done. She does not want them and is afraid that they are going to be in forever. I tell her it would not be that long but anyone have any idea how long a person normally wear braces for? I think it would help her to know it is not as bad as she is making it out to be.

Well giving you a time frame is way to hard. Braces time will very depending on the person teeth. Someone may only have braces in for a year while yet others have braces for three to four years or even more depending on the need.
Instead of trying to give your friend a time frame that you would only be guessing at anyway just tell her that it is the end results that count. After all sounds like she is going to get braces whether she wants it or not.

I had to have braces for gaps and crooked teeth. I had my braces in for four years and I am still wearing a retainer. I would still do it over again because my teeth look so much better then what the did before. I really hated my teeth that I would never even smile.
As soon as I got braces on I was so happy that smiling with braces was so much better because I knew they were getting fixed and that all that counted to me.

It really depends on how bad things are for your teeth. its not uncommon to have them on for a few years or so, sometimes even more.
