Dental Insurance or Dental Plan
The other day I bough what I thought was dental insurance only to find out that I could not keep my dentist because it was a dental discount plan and not insurance. My dentist said he does not take dental discount plans. I am so upset that now I bought a plan that is not even going to help me. There are other dentist that take the discount plan but I want to stay with the one I have.
I called wanting a full refund but they said I may have earned fees that are not refundable. Even though the plan is useless to me. I really do not think this is fair. I only bough the plan thinking I could go to my dentist to find out after the fact I can not. When I told them this the rep told me that they state on the website that it is a discount plan where you have to go the the plan providers. I did not see that should I not get back all my money?

Well I am going to say I am sorry to hear you had such a problem. But can understand both sides to this story. When buying a product on line for anything thing you do. It is up to you to read and know what it is you are buying.
I am not saying you did not read the site, but sounds as if you did not read everything completely. It is up to you not the company if they are fully disclosing that it is a discount plan and not insurance.
For example: at http://www.insurancecompany.com They sell dental insurance as well as dental discount plan and it is very clear on their site which is which. Try to learn from this and not repeat it in the future. If you are not sure about the product that you are wanting to buy on line, call the company up and get the information you need.
Do not buy anything from a website that does not have a valid contact number for questions.

I see how you may feel. If you just bought the plan and did not use it, as long as you called the company back with in a few days of buying the plan you would think they would be understanding and not charge you the set up fees.
That said you can see that the company does have processing fees in order to process your dental plan order. So if you had the plan for more the just a few days keeping the fees sounds fair.
In the end it would be a decision would be up to the company. Next time just be a little more careful of what you are in fact buying on line.

Do not feel to bad Holly, I did the same thing. I bought a discount plan without knowing that I had to stay within the network of dentist. I was just as upset so when I called the company stated how it shows on their web site. I was no it did not.
The lady on the phone show me were it was and I am sorry to say it was not only there but it was there in bold print. I had only myself to blame. I was lucky in the fact that they did not process my order and I had no charges put on my card.
