Sixteen years old and never been to the dentist
I am sixteen as as far as I know I have never been to the dentist. I asked my mom about this and she said she does not have dental insurance so unless my teeth are causing me to have problems she does not see any reason to take to to the dentist just to spend money she does not have.
To be fair my teeth are nice and white and straight they do not hurt so I do not think I do have anything wrong with my teeth. It’s just my friends go to the dentist at lease once to twice a year, where I never been. Is there something wrong with that?

It is advise that you go to the dentist at least twice a year from the time you get your first baby tooth. Is it wrong that you have not been to the dentist? I can only say, that it is not advised to wait that long to see a dentist.
I am not your mom. Nor am I in her shoes to know why she feels the way she does about the subject. However, when one lives on a low income or fixed income sometimes just having enough money to get you though everyday expenses can be hard. Having to come up with additional money can make for some really tough choices, and is why many put of going to the dentist even though it is important.
If you really want to go to the dentist and cost is a factor for your mom. Try looking into some dental schools. Some dental schools offer free services for low income families.
Also there may be programs in your state that offer free dental services for children in low income families. Do a little homework on your own and show your mom that it may not have to cost her to have some dental help for you.

Continue to take extra care of your teeth on your own until you are able to go to the dentist yourself without your mom having to worry about it. In the end if your mom will not take you that all you can do is wait until you are 18.

What dah? Man who wants to kiss a chick like that with jacked up teeth. You should knock some sense into your mom after all that was her job to take you and I would be mad at her.
