Can bad teeth cause heart disease, strokes, kidney disease and other health issues.
My Vet said that bad teeth can cause all kinds of health issues.
Yes my Vet told me all the side of effects of having bad teeth. This was not directed at me but at my dog. My dogs teeth has bad tarter on them. Any way that is my dog. The thing that got me thinking is that my teeth are not in the greatest shape either.
I had bad teeth since I was young. I never really took care of them when I was a teen since I was going though a lot of stuff at the time. Now I do take way better care of my teeth but I have not been to the dentist in over two years. I just really do not like the dentist they freak me out. Even the thought of going to the dentist makes me queasy.
Now however, if bad teeth can cause a dog to have heart disease, strokes, kidney disease and other health issues. Will having bad teeth cause me to have the same risks? I know it is silly to compare a human with a dog but my family already has some of these health issues. I do not need another reason why I may have these issues latter on in life. Am I making to much out of this? Oh and by the way my Vet is cleaning my dog teeth tomorrow so I am having that done.

Well I have heard that some people take better care of their pets then they do themselves you must be one of those people. I think regardless of your fares of going to the dentist you still need to go.
Not going to the dentist in over two years is just asking for teeth and gums issues. Just because your teeth may not hurt does not mean they are healthy.
Your vet by the way is correct all the same heal issues that your dog can have because of bad teeth so can you. Something I hope you will think about.

I can understand your fears about seeing a dentist. It can be hard when you feel that you have had bad past experiences. That said it does not mean you should not go to the dentist. The key is trying to find a dentist that you like.
There are many understanding dentists that can help you with your fears and your dental needs. You can have all the same health risk from having bad teeth and gums. So please do not put of seeing a dentist any longer.
Taking good care of your dog is important, however you also need to take good care of yourself.

There have been studies that seem to show a link to heart disease, strokes, kidney disease and other health issues. This is due to the germs and bacteria that are in your mouth do to bad teeth and gums.
I do suggest seeing a dentist more often. Try to start going at least two times a year. It can be hard to put aside your fears but putting of your dental needs can be hazardous to your over all health.
