Can bad teeth be an inherited trait
I am fourteen years old and I am wanting to know if having bad teeth and gums are an inherited trait? Both my parents and even my grand parents have bad teeth. I had lots of issues with my baby teeth. I had at least a dozen cavities that had to be filled when I had my baby teeth.
My Adult teeth seem to be okay for now but I am worried latter on in life I am going to have bad teeth. I do not what to have to go to the dentist all the time like my parents. They go to the dentist at least four to five times a year. What is the chance that I will have jacked up teeth because my parents do?

I guess you could have weak teeth from your parents. However if you know you may have weaker teeth that are prone to cavities you should just visit the dentist more often.
They advise at least two times a year but you can go to the dentist as many times as you want for a check up to maintain your teeth health. I go to the dentist four times a year since I have gums issues that develop fast if I do not keep on top of it.

Both my parents had troubled with their teeth and so did their parents. I so far have only had a few cavities but those were in my baby teeth.
I would not rule out the fact that you can inherit bad teeth from you parents. However, dental work and teeth care products has come a long way since the days of our parents. Which makes it easier to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
If you feel your teeth are at a higher risk of having cavities and tooth decay then I would suggest seeing a dentist more often. Staying on top of your oral health is the key to having good teeth and gums.
