How do I get my Dental Insurance Copany to pay my dental claim
I have WellPoint Dental Insurance offer to me though work. I went to a dentist that offer a free oral exam. He filed a claim for approval to WellPoint for a deep cleaning. I waited for the approval which I got stating they would cover up to $227.00. So I was fine with that and proceeded the have the work done.
I had to pay for the dentist in full for the work and then I submitted the claim to WellPoint. This was the way the dentist had me do it. Now it has been like pulling teeth from WellPoint to pay me the $227.00 they said they would cover. It was over a month later when I called Wellpoint and was told they missed placed the claim. I had to fax it to them. I was told they would have the check in the mail….. Still waiting another two weeks since I faxed the claim in.
I have not gotten my $227.00 which at this point I could really use. The dentist I went to told me that is why he had me pay in full since this kind of thing happens all the time. If I did not get this plan though work I would cancel it I am so upset. How much longer should I give them to get me back my money? And then what should I do if I do not still get my $227.00? Advise please.

I would call them up to make sure that they received your fax. Then I would have the confirm when they mailed the check to you. If you still have not received your check then you can talk to the Dept of Insurance.

Tell them you are going to file a complaint against them with the department of insurance and see if that makes them move any faster. Otherwise try and wait them out.

I have Well Point too and never had any problems with them. However I will only to go a dentist that files the claim. I have insurance for a reason and it so I do not have to pay in full for my dental work. If I could afford to do that I would not have dental insurance in the first place.
I learn that lesson, when one time I paid in full and Well Point paid what was do back to me to the dentist. It was then like trying to pull teeth from the dentist to get my money back.
I learned that for the most part the insurance companies are set up to pay the dentist and not the insured the premiums due. So why then should you pay the dentist in advance.
I would make sure that Well point has in fact sent the check to you and not to your dentist. That could be why you have not received your money yet.

The claim process can be slow. It lame I know that the insurance company take your money fast enough but sometimes have issues with paying your claims in a timely manor.
That said faxes get lost it is not uncommon. Sadly for you it is effecting you. I advise try giving the Insurance Company a little more time since they just got your claim when you faxed it to them.
Then the next time you are having to file a claim I would fax it to them and call the next day to make sure they received your fax to avoid any delays in returning premiums back to you
