Missing adult tooth replacement.
I am a adult and I still have one baby tooth in the middle top of my mouth. For some reason I do not know why I never got an adult tooth to replace this baby tooth. Now I have a cavity on this tooth. It is the only cavity I have ever had and the dentist tells me it is not worth filling since it a baby tooth and it is also a little loose.
the dentist stated I can either just pull the tooth, or I can pull the tooth and get an implant as a replacement. I just not sure. The tooth itself is not hurting me. It is only a little loose but it has been like that for a long time now. I do not think it is going to come out on it own. I think I just want it filled. Is there a reason why I can not have it filled. Should I look into having a second opinion? I like my dentist I do not think he is trying to up charge me but I am not sure this time I agree with what he saying.

When in doubt get a second opinion. There is nothing wrong with getting advise from another dentist. There are other choices then just a dental implant you could have a bridge too. Talk over all your choice then do what you feel is best for you

Well the dentist may not want to do a filling since doing the filling may loosen the tooth in question even more. Remember he has to drill out the cavity in order to fill it putting pressure on the already loose tooth.
I am not say not to get a second opinion only that your current dentist does not seem out of line with what he is suggesting you to do.

Well I have a few baby teeth left though I have not had any issues with them so far. You dentist is not far off that once you do get cavities or they start becoming loose pulling the tooth may be the only thing left to do.
I would talk over the cost of getting an implant and getting a bridge. See which one would make better sense to you.

Dental implants are expensive and are normally not covered by dental insurance. So if you have dental insurance you may want to check and see if you would have any coverages for a dental implant. For me that would make a difference on whether I would try and wait things out or not.

It is so true that Implants are costly my friend paid 1100.00 for one implant. However it really looks good and they are there for life.
Maybe want you can do is keep your baby tooth for as long a possible. This gives you time to do research on dental implants and to get an idea of cost. If your insurance company does not pay for implants it will also give you some time to save up the money if need be.
