My husband needs to have all the remaining teeth he has pulled out so that he can get a complete set of dentures uppers and lowers.  This teeth have always been in bad shape since he was a child do to his diabetes.   He has dental insurance though work but it is not the greatest.  Our out of pocket cost is still around $3700.00.

The problem is we just do not have that kind of money to spend right now.   I however, do not want him to continue to suffer with his bad teeth.  I am really upset over this since the dentist will not even workout any type of payment plan.  We could afford about $100.00 a month until it is paid off.   Does anyone have any idea on what we can do.  I want my husband to smile again.  He is just a giving man and he does so much for our family always putting himself last.

Find a dentist that is willing to workout a dental plan. If you have dental insurance that lets you pick your own dentist then just keep making phones calls until you get the dentist that will work best for your husband needs.

If you are in a net work only plan that may be harder but see if there are any dentist in their net work will to work with you. In the mean time set up a saving fund for your husband dental work. So if you can not find a dentist that will over you payment plan then you will have money put a side for his needs. Just do not dip into it.

Try having the dental work done a little at a time as you can afford to have it done. So for an example if you need to have his teeth pull. Then pull out one or two until you save up more money to pull out more.

Yes this will take longer to get the all the work he needs done but at least he will get doing a little at a time instead of doing nothing at all.

Have you looked into getting a credit card that will be able to offer you the 3700.00 limit. Then you can make monthly payment to the credit card company.

More and more dentist are wanting to get paid at the time services are render. Partly because the insurance company can take their time in paying claims and partly because they get stiffed by their own patient. Keep in mind a dental office is not in the business to loan money. However by asking for a payment plan from them that is what you are asking them to do.

Now some dentist will offer a payment plan either because they really want your business and are will to take a chance on you. Or you have been a patient of theirs for a year or more and they are able to trust that you will make your payments to them.

  4. Greg Hill Says:

You are in a tough position. At worse no one will offer you a payment plan so you will then need to shop out cost with the different dentist. Go to the dentist that can get the job done for less. The less the dental services cost the less you will have to pay.

You may also want to check out a dental clinic. Dental Clinics are good for low income families. Just make sure your dental insurance will accept you going there.

  5. McCoy Says:

My husband needed ton of dental work too. We also had dental insurance but our share of cost was still more then we could afford. I called and talk to my insurance company to see if I could go to a dental school but was told no.

However they did say I could choose to go to a dental clinic. I was able to find a dental clinic within a reasonable driving distance from us.

We had to be a proved as low income but that was not hard to do. We did have to wait a while for the appointment but the cost was half the price and my husband received good dental care. Try to see if you have any clinics that your husband can go to.
