Dental Opinion needed, Should I pull my tooth or crown it?
I have a bad back tooth it is the last molar on the bottom right side of my mouth. I seem to be always having problems with that tooth on and off. I went to the dentist that said he could save it by doing a root canal and putting a crown on it.
I have dental insurance so that will help me some regarding the cost. However, I really just wanted it pulled. I had filling done on this tooth twice before and I am tired of messing with it. The dentist said he could pull it but would advise against it. Saying that my teeth may start to shift.
It is in the back and I really do not care. Will my teeth really start to shift that badly without it? Wanting to pull it but would that be a big mistake?

Whether or not you pull the tooth would be up to you. However the dentist is correct when he say just pulling the tooth will make your teeth shift.
Normally when you pull a tooth you are putting something back in it place to avoid your other teeth from shifting. Either by a bridge, partial, or implant. All of which are costly depending on what you choose.
It sounds like to me you just want the tooth pull and you are are planing to leave a gap. Not a good idea. Not only are you then open to teeth shifting but the tooth on the top or bottom of the gap may also start to have issues.
Get the root canal and crown. There is no sense in pulling a tooth that can be saved. This is my only opinion on the matter

If you do not care then pull the tooth it really will not matter if you get a slight gaping problem if that is not an issue for you. Because if you do nothing more the pull the tooth over time you will start to have gaping between your teeth.
