California Dental Insurance, I want to combine two dental plans for the same dental services.
So I have an PPO dental insurance plan that I get though my job. It has a 1500 year max limit and for majors only covers out 50%. I was shopping dental insurance and notice that my dentist is listed on this HMO plan I saw. It looked really good because the crown I need is only $380.00 and my dentist charges $700.00 for the crown.
With my current insurance plan that would leave me with $350.00 but if the dentist uses the HMO plan at $380.00 and bills that off to my current policy then I would only have to pay $190.00 making it well worth the cost paying for the HMO insurance plan he takes. Can I do this ?

You would need to call the dentist in question and confirm that they are still taking the HMO dental plan and see if they are willing to combine it with your current PPO dental plan.
In theory it can work but it depends on the dentist. They may not be able to combine depending on their rules or possible depending on whether or not your first plan allows them to or not.

I have was able to do that with my dentist since I had an PPO and a HMO. I was lucky that my dental office took bough plans and were willing to combine them.
However you may want to note to stay on top of them about doing so. I had to remind them each time I went to the dentist for services.
