Dental Opinions, What is the difference between dental insurance and a dental discount plan

I am 19 and working part time while going to school.  I got dropped from my parents dental insurance since I am not going to school full time.  Well my dad has been trying to find me a dental insurance plan on line.  So far each web site we go to that offers what we think is dental insurance turns out to be discount plans.

We start out in the search typing in dental insurance plans for an individual.  But have not been able to find dental insurance.   My dad said before he  buys a discount plan for me he wants me to find out what is the difference between having dental insurance and getting a dental discount plan.
He want to make sure that they are not a scam and that it would be worth buying over a dental insurance plan. I would like any information about this please.  I would like to be able to see a dentist soon and hate putting this off.   Thanks.

    In most state we offer dental insurance as well as dental discount plans. I suggest clicking on the link at the top of the screen in order to get your free dental insurance and or plan quote.

    This will hopefully let you review the dental insurance plans we have to offer you and compare them against the dental plan we have available.
