Dental Insurance, Who should I ask for a second opinion if I am not happen with my dentist.
Ten months ago I had a root canal done by this one dental office under my dental insurance plan. Now I am having problems with the same tooth. I have been in some really bad pain off and on. I went back to the same dentist under my current dental plan and was told I needed a retreatment root canal done on the same tooth.
That it seems like not all the root was removed or something. I am very upset over this. I feel the job was not done right the first time and now I am being charge again for a root canal on the same tooth. My cost for a retratement under my plan is still $78.00.
I only have this dentist in my general area and the next dentist would be at least an half hour drive. My dental insurance plan says I must see there dentist but by the time I make the change to the other dentist I would be out waiting for it to go though for at least a month.
Who should I ask for a second opinion? Should I just pay out of my pocket to see another dentist or just get the re-treatment and hope that they do it right this time.

You can go to any other dentist for another opinion. If you are worried that your current dentist is trying to take you. I would just go to a different dentist and say what they have to say.

Well getting a second dental opinion can depend of what type of dental insurance you have. If you have a plan where you can go to any dentist then it is not an issue.
However, if you have a dental insurance plan were you need to stay within the network that could be come an issue. Depending on if they do the change of dentist right away or if you are out waiting for the change to go though. If you have to wait you may be out waiting for a second opinion longer then your next appointment with your current dentist.
Find this out by call your dental insurance company. See what they can suggest to you.

My thinking on this is that you will need to have your current dentist put on the crown. I say this because you are in the middle of the job. I have to say I do not think they will just hand over the crown to you so you can get it put on by a different dentist.
I not sure how that would really workout for you. If you are still in pain after given it a few more days then just walk into the dental office and tell them you will wait to be seen. If you are in their office the dentist will have to see you. They do not want you making them look bad in front of the other patients.
Then just change dentist once the job is completed so you do not have to further deal with them.
