There is no rule that says you have to have your wisdom teeth pulled. In fact many people have their wisdom teeth and yet never had any issues with them.
Now a dentist may advise having them pulled if he/she can tell you do not have enough room for them to come out without causing shifting problems to your other teeth. Making your other teeth crooked.
Many dentist will not put on braces until the wisdom teeth are removed. Which may be another reason for removal of wisdom teeth.
Also many dentist will say that it is hard to keep wisdom teeth clean. Since flossing so far back can be hard to do for some people. So all though there are many reasons to remove wisdom teeth there is no set rule and you should do what you feel is best for yourself and oral health care.
