Dental care, Why do some people have no oral hygiene yet still have good teeth
I am so upset. I brush three times a day pretty much after every main meal. I floss twice a day. I use mouthwash that is suppose to be good for gum care. Yet I still manage to get a cavity under my crown of all things. Now I need a root canal and a new crown. With insurance my cost is still over $900.00.
Yet I seen and know people that barely has barely any oral hygiene. They do not bursh if they do it only one time a day I know they are not flossing because they tell me they do not have the time for it. Yet they never had even one stupid cavity. Am I doing something wrong here or what?

No you are not doing anything wrong. Those people that have strong teeth may not get cavities easily but that does not mean they are in good oral health.
By not brushing and flossing even if you do not get cavities you will have gum issues like gingivitis and gum disease.
The fact that you new cavity was under a crown means that there was not much more you could have done to prevent it. Do not beat yourself up over it and try not to think that not brushing will work for you.

I knew this person that was a family friend since I was a little kid. He was like one of those people that never really brush all that much and sure as heck did not floss.
Putting aside the fact that his teeth were yellow and he had bad breath most of the time, he too never had a cavity and would brag about it.
Whenever someone would tell him to brush his teeth he have an my teeth are good I have no cavities and what you brush and have fillings so there type of attitude.
Now we are both adults and years have gone buy. He still never got a cavity. Sadly though he lost seven teeth do to gingivitis and has other that are really loose.
So try not to worry so much about what other people do but worry about yourself and know that you are doing what is needed for your own oral health.

I would check with the dentist that put on the crown in the first place. Sound like to me the crown was not put on good enough to let a cavity get under it.
I would talk to the dentist and see if he will lower the cost since it seems like someone did not do the first job correctly. It would not hurt to try and see anyway.
There not much you can do about other people oral hygiene and teeth. Sounds like to me if you started not brushing you will have even bigger teeth issues.
