Dental opinions and advise on dental crowns
I will be having two root canals in the back and I will be needing crowns on both teeth. Since I have to go to a specialist for the root canals the cost is really high at almost $1800 and that is just for the needed root canals which there is nothing much I can do there.
However the dentist what to give me porcelain crowns that are going to cost $800 each. I just can not afford to have all this dental work. I am scraping up the money for the root canals as it is. I told him I would just have cheap metal crowns for now which would cost less then 100.00 each.
My thinking is when I can better afford the more costly crowns I would get them at that time. Is having metal crowns really all that bad when they are in the back of my mouth anyway. Opinions on what you would do would be a great help in my decision process.

Well if you do not have dental insurance I would at least think about getting a dental discount plan and save some money for your current dental needs.
If you find a dental discount plan that has an specialist in their network for your root canal work you would be able to save at least 20 percent which is better then the nothing you are getting now.
As for crowns you may be able to better afford crown other then all metal ones. At least porcine fused to metal so that they will look like normal teeth and not crowns. That is my suggestion

I have to agree at this point you may want to look into getting an dental HMO plan that does not have any waiting periods or a dental discount plan that will help you save money off your needed filling.
Because the prices you quoting does sound within the normal price range. Be thank full you only need to have a filling done since it been so long since you last seen a dentist.
