I have a plan where I am told I can pick my own dentist but I am worried about getting someone once again that I do not like and will make me upset about even going. I need a caring dentist that does not see me as a monthly car payment. Any advise for choosing a dentist.

I know I do not want to pay exorbitant amount for dental  services.  The sames goes for any dental insurance plan I get.  I do not have deep pockets and I only looking for dental services and a dental plan that will keep my cost low.

What can I do ?  I do not have the money to be paying out of pocket but do not want to change dentist.  She was the first dentist that did not make me feel bad about my teeth and was caring to my needs.  I am a bit of a baby when I have to go to the dentist.  Please give  me advise.

My dental office told me that is good coverage for a crown.   However how do I know what the going price is for a crown so that I can have an idea of what my share of cost is going to be?  The dental office staffing told me they could not tell me what it would cost without seeing me first.  I know I only need the crown replaced.  Is there a way for me to find out before seeing the dentist.   Cost is going to be a factor on whether or not I have the crown replaced.

With my current insurance plan that would leave me with $350.00  but if the dentist uses the HMO plan at $380.00 and bills that off to my current policy then I would only have to pay $190.00 making it well worth the cost paying for the HMO insurance plan he takes.   Can I do this ?

I have dental insurance so that will help me some regarding the cost.  However, I really just wanted it pulled.  I had filling done on this tooth twice before and I am tired of messing with it.  The dentist said he could pull it but would advise against it.  Saying that my teeth may start to shift.

My wife just feels it would cost us more money for a second opinon to get then to just have the dental work done.  Is there a way to get a second opinion for little to no charge if we are able  get the X-rays from the first dentist.

My really questions is how do I know I am getting the best rate?  If I shop out the dental work do I have to go into each dental office for a check up and a second opinion or can I get cost over the phone?  I would like a second opinion without having to pay for the check up and X-rays each time. So here is the story.  Last year I was told by the dentist at the time that I needed to have a filling done on one tooth and to have a deep cleaning.  So wanting to make sure I got a second dental opinion from a different dentist. That dentist said that I do not need a filling or a deep cleaning.   Okay so I when to him for just the regular cleaning he said I needed.

Six mouths later he says now I do need to have a filling and a deep cleaning.  He gave me a cost that was much higher then the dentist that I when to before him.  This bother me so I when to another dentist for a second opinion.  That dentist told me that I do not need a deep cleaning and that I do have a very small cavity on my tooth but it was too small to worry about doing a filling on yet.  When different dentist tell you different things how do you know which one is telling  you the truth.  I do not want to feel like I got bate and switched.  Which is how I am feeling.  They tell me what I want to hear the first time then try to get me to do all this expensive dental work the second time I go.   What is up with that?
