Dental care for seniors, and getting a good dental insurance plan. I am hoping you can help me out. My dad is 68 and need to get a set of new dentures. He lives in Maryland and is on a shoe string budget. I am trying to help him out since his current dentures are really old and ill fitting. I called around to a few dental office but they do not offer any discounted saving for seniors nor even a cash credit. I here hoping you may have a dental plan that he can get that will help me with the cost of new dentures.

Dental Insurance for New or Replacement Dentures. There are plenty of dental insurance plans that will cover dentures, but you need to plan ahead. Many but not all dental insurance plans have waiting periods from 6-18 months. As an example: Replacing teeth with dentures is classified as major dental services. The average benefit is 50% co-insurance for your dentures. Make note when you are replacing dentures the dental company may required proof that you had the prior dentures for X amount of years before providing coverages for new dentures make sure you read the plan terms and conditions on this.

Another dental plan type you may want to review when getting new dentures or replacing old dentures would be a dental discount plans. Dental discount plan plans are a low cost dental plan that do not have waiting periods or restrictions on how long you may have had prior dentures. You will get the saving available to you under the plan. They normally start within the next business day of your online enrollment. .Remember discount dental plans are not insurance dental plan.

The problem she has is that she some how broke her top dentures. She needs new ones and she does not have dental insurance any longer. Places I called tell me that she would have needed to have denture for five years before they would cover for new ones. If I get her a dental discount plan in order to help her with the cost are there any limits like that I need to know about? Wanting to help my mom out the best I can so please advise.

Right now I have more then half of my teeth but truefully the teeth I do have are in really bad shape. I talked to a dentist that was willing to give me a free consult and I was advise to pull out all but four teeth and to get dentures.

I was told by the dentist that if I do get dental insurance many of the plan could make me wait up to a year or more for this type of dental work. And do to the cost of everything I would more then likely max out my limit anyway so it would not be worth me getting dental insurance at this point.

The dentist office then stated that they take two discount plans that I see in your site. The dentist stated to me since I have good credit they would give me the discount that is on the plan they take and then offer me a payment plan that I could afford to make.

This all sounds good but I am not sure. I do not know much about discount plans and I am not sure if the dentist is telling what they are about dental insurance because they do not want to deal with insurance and wants to get paid directly. I would love to hear some good opinons about this.

DENTAL INSURANCE FOR DENTURES- HELP AND INFORMATION

Dental Insurance – Dentures

There are plenty of dental insurance plans that will cover dentures, but you need to plan ahead. Many but not all dental insurance plans have waiting periods from 6-18 months.

As an example: Replacing teeth with dentures is classified as major dental services. The average benefit is 50% co-insurance for your dentures. Dentures are covered by some dental discounts dental plans. Remember discount dental plans are not insurance dental plan.

What happens when you get dentures?

Full or partial dentures replace your teeth when you have lost your natural teeth, from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury. They will help your appearance and your health including support for facial muscles sag which makes a person look older. Dentures normally take one month and 4-5 appointments which include the initial exam, wax bite impressions, and final denture adjustments.

How to take care of dentures?

Remove and brush your dentures with a tooth brush and denture cleanser designed for dentures. When the dentures are not used, soak the dentures in a denture cleaner solution or in water.

Should dentures be worn at bedtime?

Dentures should not be worn while sleeping to allow the gum tissue to rest and normal stimulation and cleaning by the tongue and saliva.

Are there alternatives to dentures?

Strategically placed supports or implants can be used to support permanently cemented bridges, eliminating the need for some dentures

The problem is we just do not have that kind of money to spend right now. I however, do not want him to continue to suffer with his bad teeth. I am really upset over this since the dentist will not even workout any type of payment plan. We could afford about $100.00 a month until it is paid off. Does anyone have any idea on what we can do. I want my husband to smile again. He is just a giving man and he does so much for our family always putting himself last.
