Headaches, body aches, numbness, and a whole bunch of other physiological manifestations seem to appear just before a dentist appointment. I have heard of people sweating profusely until they were embarrassed and just walked out of the office.

From what you said, it looks like you may need a crown. There are may different types of crowns that are available from low to high cost depending on what you wish to have. I would advise to speak to a dentist. You should not wait, since a chip in your tooth exposes it and makes week which may cause tooth decay or more breakage.
