Dental Opinions, Broken tooth with a root canal
Question: I had a root canal done on one of my back molars a few months ago. I was to go back to see the dentist for my permanent crown the following week in the mean time the dentist put on a temporary crown on. I was unable to go back to the dentist right away do to addition things coming up so about a month latter the temporary fell off. Since I re booked my dental appointment to go back for the crown I thought I would wait it out since it was only a week away. However when I was eating a think apart of my tooth with the root canal broke off. Now I have a hole in my tooth. What will the dentist do now? Will I still get my crown?
Answer: The temporary crown was put on to protect what was left of your tooth. I know you can not go back in time but when it came off you should have went to see the dentist ASAP and not waited. However at this point it depends on how much of the tooth you broke off.
I would advise seeing you dentist sooner then latter as you do not want to continue doing damage to your tooth.
