Is grinding teeth bad ?
I have this habit of grinding my teeth when I am thinking or stressed out. I also think that I may grind them when I am a sleep too. Is it really all that bad? I mean my jaw does not hurt because of my grinding, but someone told me I can mess up my teeth. Just how would that happen?

Even if you do not have any issues with your teeth now because of your teeth grinding you may be harming them slowly. In which given time you may start to notice the long term effects of your grinding.
1) You could start to have jaw pain
2) You may grind away the enamel which protects your teeth from plaque, decay and cavities
3) If you grind you teeth too hard you may crack, chip or losen a tooth or teeth.

If you grind your teeth occasionally then you may not have any issues with your teeth. It is when you grind your teeth on a regular basis. This condition is some times refer to as bruxism. Some of the causes for bruxism may be from anxiety, stress or tension. It also can be habit or due to the alignment of a person teeth.
If it is stress try to reduce your intake of caffeine this may help. Maybe think about taking stress relief classes.

Brake the habit. As already stated you can have problems with grinding your teeth.
Here are a few suggestion I though may help you stop grinding your teeth.
1) If you are aware of when you are grinding your teeth, make the effort to stop as soon as you notice you are doing it.
2) Ask your friend or family member to point out when they see you grinding your teeth. So that you can stop.
3) Do not chew on pencils or pens or things like that.
4) talk to your dentist and see about getting fited for a night guard. A night guard will protect your teeth from grinding when you are asleep.

I have used a night guard before to help me not grind my teeth when I am asleep. It took just a few days to adjust to having it in but it really help me. Check it out and see if it can help you too.
