You Floss in order to get food out between your teeth that brushing alone may not get. I like using the floss picks. Depending on what you buy you can get about 30-50 picks per bag. If I was to change floss with each tooth a bag would only last a day or so. I use one to two of them when I floss.

When I floss I do not take really long piece. Just enough to floss. I change my floss two times. One for the top teeth and one for the bottom teeth. To change floss after every tooth seems wasteful to me.

I just use one piece for my whole mouth. Doing that works for me. If you feel like you need to change out more, then go ahead it really does not matter how much floss you use, so long as you are flossing.
