Why are my teeth so bad?

Posted on Monday, Sep. 14th 2009 10:28 AM by Dental Plan Review in Cavities 4 Comments »

I do not understand. I take very good care of my teeth.  I brush and floss twice some time three times a day.  Yet I go to the dentist and I have two more cavities.   Why?  I should not get any cavities yet now here I am with two more that they are going to fix.   Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong.

Find out if you are grinding your teeth. A reason you may be getting cavities might be that you are grinding your teeth at night, and therefore removing some of the enamel on your teeth. Check to see if the cavities you are getting are in the same place. Your dentist may be able to check for that. A night guard can help you with that if you find out this may be the cause.

I use to have that problem also. For me it was because my teeth had natural deep groves. Even though I would brush and floss, I still could not clean them good because of the deepness of my groves. My dentist advise that I get sealant put on my teeth. This stop me from having so many cavities. I hope it helps you to.

Talk to your dentist about this issue. Maybe you only need to have a stronger cavity control products. See if they can prescribe you a prescription tooth paste or mouthwash.

If we rule out poor bushing and flossing and over all dental hygiene as a culprit to your cavities issues, the you may want to take a second look at your diet. Are you eating or drinking foods with high sugar content? If so you should then get into the habit of washing out your mouth out after eating sweets. Also think about staying way from the sugary drinks.

If you are sick or had a long term illness, this also may be a cause for your week or cavity prone teeth. Good example of this is diabetes. Diabetes can effect your teeth and gums. Only you would know this, but if illness is a factor for you talk to your dentist, they maybe able to advise you on what you can do to prevent further cavities.
