13 cavities and no time
Help I have 13 cavities and I am running out of time.
I just went to the dentist for a cleaning and check up. My dental insurance is expiring on the first of January. It has been a few years since I have been to the dentist but since I will be changing jobs next year I am losing my dental insurance that I have with them on January 1st.
I was very surprised that I have so many cavities as I thought I was brushing my teeth well enough. I only went to the dentist because my insurance was going to cancel. With insurance that I have now it will cost me around 275.00 to fix all 13 cavities. Without insurance it will be over 1000.00.
The dentist is booked up until after the new year. He said he may be albe to fix one or two of the cavities before the first but that is not really helping me much. I all the insurance to see if I can keep it. They said I can but it would cost me 453.72 and they will make me pay it in full for the year with no refunds. So now to fix my filling I am looking at $730.00. This is a joke I can not afford that and they will not let me cancel after my filling are fixed to get a refund.
What should I do? Should I find a different dentist in hope he can get me in before Jan 1 and that maybe he will say I do not have so many cavities. Or do I do nothing for now since it is not like my teeth hurt me anyway?

See about a second opinion. Call the dentist and see if you can get in sooner. I am sure there are dental office that will be open after and before Christmas.
I would not want to wait too long to fix cavities. It does not take much time for cavities to become bigger issues and cost more in the end.

Try shopping out a new dental plan. One that would cost you less. There are many good dental plans that would be cheaper that just may work for you.

I would just pay the $275.00 for the filling and try to making it a learning lesson for me not to ever let my teeth get that bad.
You do not state when the last time it was that you saw a dentist, but now you know that you do not want to wait until you are going to lose your dental insurance.
Also waiting will not make your cavities go away. Waiting will only give them more time to grow and cause bigger issued then just fillings. I am sure you do not want to have 13 root canals. I would not even want to guess at how much that would cost. I can say it would be way more the $275.00 that for sure
