What is Dental Bonding
Can a dental bonding fix a chip tooth?
I have a small chipped tooth in the front where everyone can see it. I do not have money for veneers but a friend of mine said that I may be able to fix the chip without any veneers and just have it bonded. The dentist I went to see about the chip said I should get a veneer. However veneers would have cost over 900.00. My dental insurance dose not cover for veneers. Is bonding really cheaper? Can it fix a chip tooth and make it look better.

You should be able to do a dental bonding on a small chip. Normally on front teeth is prefer since you have less bit stress to brake or damage the bonding.
I would get a second opinion. Bonding is way less the veneers. Sounds like you got a dentist that wants to make better money or there is more going on then a small chip.

I do not see why you could not get bonding done for a small chip. I chipped my top front tooth and had it bonded. I agree with the last reply. Get a second opinion. Either you have a dentist trying to make more money or you have more then just a small chip going on.

Sometimes chips can lead to small stress cracks. This may be why your dentist is advising you do get a veneer. Also it does not seem by what you wrote that you asked your dentist about bonding. Did you?
You may want to ask your dentist why he is suggesting a veneer over bonding. There is probably a very good reason why he is saying to get a veneer.
Another thing to keep in mind is that unless you tell your dentist you are on a fix budget and ask for other less costly solutions, they are only going to mention what they feel is the best way to fix the problem at hand.
