Dental, Need to get cheaper braces
I just got back from a consult at the orthodontics. I was told by the dentist that my son would need to have five baby teeth pulled. Then he could get braces put on and they would straighten out his teeth as the adult teeth come in. He would then have straight adult teeth.
The problem is even with my insurance I have to come up with 500.00 down and 100.00 a month thereafter for as long as he is in braces. This would be at least two years maybe more. This will put a financial strain on our family. Is there anything I can do or anywhere I can go get get cheaper braces for my son?

Sounds like to me you are just going to have to shop him out and hope you can find a cheaper dentist. It can also depend on the type of dental insurance you have. Some plans tell you your cost for braces. Therefore changing dentist will not make any difference, because the price is the price.
You may want to just hold off if you can for a few months in order to save some money up. Instead of doing something now that you can ill afford.

I am sorry to say but the cost you are saying you have to pay for braces is within reason. Braces are not cheap and the only thing I can see you doing which may help is either shop out your dentist or shop out your insurance.
If you do decide to make a change make sure you fully understand what the other plan or dentist is going to do for you. So that you are not jumping out of the pan into the fire so to say.

Maybe try looking into a dental school. Sometimes they are less costly then going to a orthodontic dentist. I am not sure with your cast since you have insurance whether or not that will work for you.
You may want to call your insurance company and see if they have any suggestions. Talk to the Orthodontic dentist in questions and see if you can not work out a better payment plan. Some dentist are willing to work with you on payment issues if you have good credit.

Saying “Cheap Braces” would be an oxymoron. Normally braces are not cheap. At some point we just have to budget in what we want and or need to have done.
Doing so may not be easy, but the price you are saying braces are going to cost you seem about the going rate. Since you are pulling out teeth as well as having the braces.
At best you may be able to shop out your dentist. See if you can find a dentist that will charge you less. I would make some phone calls to see. At this point you have nothing to lose.
