Rotten year, with a bunch of Uncaring Dentist, Need dental help
My husband and I are at the end of the line. We just do not know what to do. My husband has a really bad wisdom tooth that is hurting him and keeping him up at night. Although we have insurance the dental insurance we have will only pay part of the cost about 40%.
I have called seven dentist. They all wanted the total cost paid in full regardless of our insurance. I told them I would need a payment plan in order to do that. However I was told no to that too. Some of the dental offices told me to apply for a Care Credit which is a medical credit card. We tried and can not get it. I tell them this and they have a I do not care attitude.
I do not get it. Dentist always preach how important it is to take care of your teeth and to see them for you dental care, yet they do not want to be bother helping out anyone that can not afford to pay their extremely high prices all at once. I guess it all about making the money for their sport car payment or next vacation.
Is there anything thing we can do to get my husband teeth fixed. Looking for the one dentist that may still really care about the people that paying his car payment.

I can understand you being upset and frustrated over the dental work you need to have done and it cost. The problem is that I really do not feel it is about uncaring dentist. Not wanting to work things out with you.
The reason why more and more dentist are having you pay the claim in full at the time services are render is because many times they get stuck not getting paid and having to chase people down for payment after the fact.
It is funny how we think dentist should do work for free. When you take your car to be fixed does the mechanic fix your car and give it to you before getting paid? No. I also never had one offer me a payment plan either..
When you put stuff on lay away you are not getting the product until it is paid in full. Yet we expect dentist to do their job for free or to offer us payment plans and get mad when they do not.
Now some dentist will offer payment plans to patients who have been going to them for some time. However to do the same for a new patient is a risk and few want to take any more.
Trying to see things from their side may help you understand why it is you are having the problems you are now facing.
That does not mean your husband can not have his dental work done. There are many dentist that give their time and services for free or at a very low cost. Check to see if you have any dental clinics in your area. Also check out any dental schools that maybe in your area. Dental school will normally offer low cost rates for their services.

Well that is just the way dentist are. I have been going to the same dentist for over five years and they still will not offer me a payment plan. If the dentist was not so great at what he does I would have found a different dentist a long time ago.
You need to make more phone calls. Try to find a dental office that needs your business so that they will try and work things out with you more

Try finding a low income dental clinic office. A dental clinic may be able to offer you a payment plan long with lower prices.

Have you looked into any state run programs he may be able to get for help on your dental cost? Call some of the dental office in your area and ask if their dentist works in any low income clinics that they can refer you too.
Dental schools may be a option. They are normally low cost on their dental services. If all else fails since I do not know what state you are in you may want to see about getting your dental work done in Mexico if possible. If that is a possibility make sure you check out the dental office and that you know they do good work. I would use that as a last choice.
