The thought of Halloween candy and it effect on your child teeth can be enough to give you goosebumps. However a parent can be mindful of their children dental health and still like them enjoy Halloween treats.
A few options to reducing risk of tooth decay due to snacking is to let your child enjoy their Halloween treat before a major meal like lunch or dinner. Any snacks should not be given more then three to four time a day and it should contribute to the overall nutrition and health of the child. That is mind Halloween candy does not normally fit into have any nutritional value so try and limit the amount your child can have at one time. Putting the candy out of reach so they can not go to it without asking first.
You also can try and weed out the candy keeping the low sugar or sugar free but trashing the ones that you feel are just cavities waiting to happen. However keep in mind with regards to tooth decay a child can have a candy once in a while as long as you make sure they are brushing and flossing every day and visiting their dentist regularly.
