I sometimes catch my self griding my teeth but other times I am not even aware that I am grinding my teeth. I also think that I may be grinding them when I sleep. Since I will some time wake up with a stiff jaw. What can I do to help stop this problem.

You are not alone in this problem. There are many people that grind or clench their teeth also referred to as having bruxism.
If this is a new issue for you, it may be because of stress. If you are having higher stress then normal try and lower your stress as best a possible. Few tips would be having less caffeine taking short brakes whenever possible.

For your grinding at night or while you are asleep. Try looking into getting a night guard. You can get one over the counter at your local drug store or on line. You also can go to your dentist to be fitted for one. Though that may be more costly.
