Swollen tongue from piercing
Painfully swollen tongue piercing
I have a tongue piercing and have had it for almost two years now. Last night my tongue was hurting a little were the ring was at. This has happen before and I would just use Listerine before going to bed and be fine the next morning. Today however my tongue is painfully swollen and red. To the point were it is hard to see the ball on the top of the bar. It hurt more then the original piercing. Any one have any suggestions on what I can do to make the swelling go down? Any home remedies I can try?

Take your piercing out. You have had it long a enough to be able to remove your piercing without out worries that it will close.
It sound like to me that you some how got it infected. take out the piercing for a few days. Use Listerine mouthwash to help kill germs and to clear the infection.
If the Listerine hurt too much then use warm salt water. If your tongue swelling does not go down or get worse see your doctor right away.

Yep you have an infection in your piercing. As stated in one of your replies remove your piercing until you can get the swelling down.
I would just use warm salt water and see if that clear things up. Do not wait too long however to see a doctor if you do not see an improvement soon.

Hey — you need to see a doctor asap. Maybe the piercing got infected or your body doesn’t like the chemicals you are using. Pull the plug on the ball and see a doc.
