A metallic taste in mouth after having a Lip Piercing

I got my lip pierced eight days ago, and I was just wondering if the metallic taste I have in my mouth will eventually go away and is this normal? And how long will the piercing remain sore for? I am taking care of the piercing as instructed but it seems that it is taking a while to heal.
