Left with a nasty taste in my mouth from having dental X-Rays
Today I went to a dental clinic for low income people to have some dental work done. The problem I was having was with one of my back molars. They did a set of X-rays and the thing they put in your mouth was very nasty tasting. I never had that happen before with X-rays so I said something about it. She said they it was the chemicals they are soak in. I just not sure about that answer it was very nasty and it not like I never been to the dentist to know better. I am worried now about getting work done there. Maybe they are not as clean since they are a low income dental clinic. Should I go to a regular dentist even though it would cost me a lot more to get the work I need done. Or do you think it is safe and I am just to worried over it?

I think you are making a big deal out of nothing. Sounds like what they told you was the truth. My dentist uses disposable card board for the mouth pieces that they use for the X-rays.
But if they do not use disposable one then what they do use needs to be cleaned after every use. Also just because they are a low income dental office does not mean they are dirty or do bad work. Expensive dental office can be dirty too.

I think that sounds odd. The dentist I go to uses disposable mouth pieces when they take my X-rays. I know because they always toss them into their trash after they remove it from my mouth.
I say if you do not feel right about the dental office you went to go to a different one. Always trust your guts. They maybe okay but why should you be left with a bad taste in your mouth?

I never experience any bad tasting X-Ray mouth piece. However, what they told you seems likely to me. I am not sure you should judge them on that one experience. I also do not think because they are there for low income clinic that it would make them be a dirty office.
In the end I agree with the last reply that you need to do what you feel is best. Having a bad first impression of this dental office may stick with you for any other services you have there.
