Basic dental cleaning and dental care needed.
I just want to go in for dental cleaning. I have not been to a dentist is a little while and I do not have dental insurance. Are there dentist that will take me without insurance and just do a cleaning. I do for a cleaning but my teeth are otherwise find so I do not want to be charged for more services then I need since I will be paying for it.

Most any dentist will take you without you having to have dental insurance. However if it is the first time going to the dental office there are additional cost to be taken into factor.
Office visit charge
X-rays
Basic Cleaning
From my understand a dentist will not do any dental work without first having X-rays done. You can try calling around and confirm this but it is standard practice. Also you may want to keep in mind that by getting dental insurance you would be able to keep your dental cost affordable.

I can understand not wanting to pay for additional services you do not want but I agree most dentist will charge for an office visit at least if you are a new patience.
Then they do want X-rays on file though you may be able to talk them out of it. That means just making phone calls to different local dental office to see if they are will to work things out with you.
Having dental insurance is not a requirement of you seeing a dentist.

Sure having dental insurance is not a requirement in order to see a dentist. However having dental insurance will surely make the dental services you have done more affordable.
Since cost seems to be an issue for you why would you not at least get a low cost dental insurance plan like and HMO. Many HMO plans even offer free preventive dental services which includes the:
Office Visits, X-rays and cleanings.
You can even get a dental discount plan which will lower the cost for all dental services you have done. I would take the time to review some of these plan options before going to the dentist.
