Dental care, Dental Credit card companies.
My mom had not been to the dentist in over two years though she does take good care of her teeth. When she went to the dentist about a little over a month the dentist said her teeth were find but her gums were not. That she had pockets and that her gums were infected.
My mom living on a low income told the dentist that she did not have the money that he was quoting her to take care of the problem ( it was a little over $2000.00) He talked her into filing out a request for a dental loan with a credit card company.
She filled out the forms thinking it was only a request and nothing more. If they said she could have the loan then she would think about having the dental work. Now she get a letter from the company stating they paid the dentist the $2110.00 for the dental services and that her montly payments are going to be $250.00 and a 20% interest rate.
She call the company saying she never agree to have money sent to the dentist. I was only to see if she could get the lone. They told her it was on her that she would need to call her dentist to get them to send the money back. That the lone money go to the dentist. She call the dentist all upset with what was going on since there was no way she can afford to pay 250.00 nore would she ever want to have an interest rate of 20%.
The dental office gave her a hard time about the process telling her that they told her it was to have the work done and she agree to it. My mom did not they just really pulled a fast one her her. I had to talk to the dental office telling them I would take them to court.
The dental office gave back the money to the credit card company but now the credit card is charging her 150.00 for the office visit and X-rays which is the money not returned by the dental. As well as a cancellation fee of 50.00 which is also coming from the dental office, and an additional 20% of the 200.00 also being charged by the credit card company. The credit card company is not backing off from these fees since it is money which was kept from the the lone sent to the dentist.
She should pay for the dental services but not the $50 extra. I feel that the dental office really put it to my mom and now every time she calls about this they are out right rude to her and keep her on hold forever hopping she will give up. Who do I complain to about this? I think both the credit card company and the dentist is in partnership out of doing this type of scam.
